Owned by Trumbull residents Dino and Layla Sakakini, the eatery should be open for business Monday.
The location is the fifth for Sakakinis, who also run Layla’s outposts in Fairfield and Trumbull as well as two locations in Stamford.
The owners have been looking to open in Westport for a long time, the Sakakins’ son J.P. told Daily Voice in spring.
“We have a lot of customers in Fairfield that are from Westport,” he said.
And why is that?
Because Layla’s delicacies are “made with love,” according to J.P. Sakakini.
All of the recipes are family favorites — from his grandmother’s spinach pie to his mom’s baklava. And everything is made fresh in house.
Westport’s location — at 1537 Post Road East near the corner of Maple Street North —is a little smaller than the rest, so the family will focus primarily on take-out and catering.
Layla’s will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
