WESTPORT, Conn. – Hundreds of shoppers made their way to downtown Westport on Monday afternoon, Christmas Eve day, looking for the perfect last-minute gifts.
Among them was Jenna Crowley, a Manhattan resident who is visiting her parents in Fairfield. Before coming to Westport, said Crowley, 28, she did some shopping in Fairfield, but couldn’t find anything she thought her mom would like.
“My mom loves decorating the house, so I thought I'd check out Pottery Barn,” Crowley said. “I saw a couple things there I think she’d like, but before I commit to anything, I’m also going to go to that new store, Jonathan Adler.”
Crowley said she was also looking for another gift for her father, whom she described as hard to shop for.
West Chester, Pa., residents Diane and Roger Grayson, who are in town visiting their daughter, son-in-law and teenage granddaughters, said they were looking to buy a few more gifts for the whole family.
“We picked up some things for our daughter at L'Occitane En Provence and got our son-in-law something from the Nike store, since he is an avid runner,” Diane Grayson said.
The Graysons, who stay with their daughter and her family every other Christmas, said they were impressed with the selection of stores downtown.
“It’s a lovely area. There are a couple of new places that weren’t here last time we came, including the Nike,” Diane Grayson said. “Now we’re off to find the Urban Outfitters store. Our daughter told us we could find something for the girls there.”
