WESTPORT, Conn. — Fans of Oscar's Deli are invited to stop by this weekend to say farewell and share memories at the Main Street fixture as owner Lee Papageorge and the crew prepare to close up shop on Monday, Aug. 1, according to a Facebook post.
Oscar's Deli announced its pending closure on Facebook.
"After 42 years Oscar's will be shutting their doors permanently on Monday, August 1. On Sunday morning customers will be sharing memories and stories with each other. Thank you for always supporting local family-run businesses.
"Thank you Lee Papageorge for giving people second chances and for always loving your extended family," the post said.
Papageorge, a nonsmoker, was diagnosed with lung cancer several months ago.
"We wish Lee Papageorge and his staff all the best," the town of Westport said in a Facebook post.
