"We have permanently closed our business, thank you for your support!" said a post on the restaurant's website

Hana Tokyo was opened in September 2014 by Alan Wu, who brought the brand from Alexandria, Va., where it was originally based.

Wu added modern twists and creative presentations to traditional Japanese dishes. It featured a tiki bar, large hibachi tables, a sushi bar constructed out of reclaimed wood and al fresco dining.

The master chef was Michael Lin, who had previously been at Tengda Asian Bistro in Greenwich, where he mastered the art of crafting original sushi rolls and appetizers.

Lin and Wu are originally from the same hometown in China.
