There will be "leases signed, construction underway and stores opening," Checkers director of franchise development John Palumbo told the Courant.

The story did not identify the timing and locations of the restaurants, but said the burger chain will be along the I-95 corridor in the Bridgeport and New Haven area.

Checkers is famous for its double drive-thru design and its menu of burgers, sandwiches and fries. Checkers joined forces with Rally's in 1999, and the company has over 800 restaurants in the U.S. Checkers has locations in New York City and Westchester County, but these would be the first in Connecticut.
