Your Reporter Vanessa Inzitari
Alfred is a veteran journalist with more than 20 years of experience covering municipal governments, education, politics and a host of other topics. With his new role as lead reporter for the Norwalk Daily Voice, Alfred is returning to community journalism, having worked for The Hour in Norwalk in the early 1990s. Most recently, he was a freelancer who wrote a column on arena and stadium naming rights for the trade publication Venues Today. Additionally, Alfred has written for the trade magazines Pharmaceutical Executive and District Administration, and served as managing editor for TicketNews.com. He is a Connecticut native who currently lives in Norwalk.
Alissa Smith grew up in Fairfield and was educated in the Fairfield public schools. After high school, she moved to Pennsylvania to attend Ursinus College for English Literature. She has spent time volunteering in India and Morocco as well as around Fairfield County when she’s here. She earned a masters in International Journalism from City University London and has worked covering statehouse politics in Virginia and Wisconsin. Andrea Graziano was a reporter for the Journal News in Rockland and Westchester counties for eight years, covering everything from schools to immigration to breaking news. Prior to that she worked at a chain of weekly newspapers on Long Island's North Shore and as a freelance writer for Yankees Magazine. She has a Master's Degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. When not working, she enjoys reading, running and spending as much time as possible with her husband and two sons.
Born and raised in Stamford, TJ Buzzeo graduated from Quinnipiac University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. While at Quinnipiac, TJ wrote for the school's online newspaper, The Quad-News. He writes about anything and everything to get his friends and neighbor's the stories they want to read and talk about.
Carli-Rae has somehow honed her inquisitive skills by working in local news. Currently an editor at The Daily Voice in Connecticut and Westchester, she has also covered news in Putnam County, where she composed a series of investigative stories that criticized wasteful government spending and political corruption throughout New York State. Carli-Rae's investigative works received recognition from the New York Press Association for excellence in in-depth reporting. She is a graduate of Sacred Heart University and also completed a year-long internship with FOX News Channel, most notably interning for the network’s media relations department.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Casey graduated from Fairfield University with a major in journalism and a minor in political science. He has covered Darien and other towns in Fairfield County since 2010. He recently turned his reporting attention to Port Chester, Rye and Harrison.
Eric Gendron is a graduate of the Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College. He covered Ithaca area sports, including Cornell University, for Ithaca College Television. Before joining The Daily Voice, he interned with Sportsnet New York and NBC news' London branch.
Greg Canuel grew up in Bridgeport, and attended school in Fairfield for 13 years, first at Our Lady of Assumption and later at Fairfield Prep. This is his first full-time job, and he's thrilled to be covering Fairfield County.
Karen has lived and worked in Connecticut for more than two decades. Her professional experience includes more than a decade of work as the news editor at The Advocate in Stamford and reporting and editing stints on the staff of The Hartford Courant, among others. She is dedicated to local news, winter sports and reading nonfiction books.
Matt Zalaznick has been managing editor of The Daily Voice's Fairfield County news websites since 2010 and in Westchester County since 2013. He was previously the managing editor of the Vail Daily newspaper and website in Vail, Colorado. He has been a reporter, editor, columnist and photographer at newspapers in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Miami suburbs. His other claim to fame is that his guitar was hit by a car while he was hitch-hiking in Ireland, just a few days after he made about $15 singing on the street in a town called Tralee. He is a graduate of Tufts University and a Miami native, but considers the New York area his ancestral home.
No one knows local sports quite like Tom Renner, The Daily Voice's Sports Editor. For 22 years, he covered the field for The Stamford Advocate. He's been in Fairfield County since 1987.
Before coming to work for The Daily Voice, Vanessa worked as a freelance reporter for the Valley Independent Sentinel, an online-only news site covering Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour and Shelton. Prior to that, she interned at The New Haven Register as a reporter, covering a variety of news and human interest stories in New Haven County. Vanessa graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. During her tenure, she worked as a reporter and editor for the university newspaper.
